WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS

As the sun set in the West over the farm yesterday , we found our selves being very surprised that we have finally 'reached' that date. The date that our dream becomes reality.
Our first guests arrive tonight . Jo and Joe and their young family from the Funky Frontyard Farmers blog will be at the door late this afternoon.
We still have much to do today in readiness , but it is great knowing the first people that are staying will be people we have gotten to know a little beforehand....so it doesn't feel like strangers coming.

We spent a good deal of yesterday saying 'Have you done this?' etc.. But I am sure when our guests arrive it will all fall into place.

I think we have been going so fast that it was nice to stop yesterday and take these photos...it reminded us just how lovely it is here on the farm.
These are the farmstay rooms ...this is the verandah to watch the sunset while you have a relaxing glass of wine.
This is the perpetual garden  and citrus orchard. We have planted three trees at the moment and have room for three more. We have a bush lime, a blood orange and a valencia orange.
I really wish I knew as much as I know now about planting an orchard ....I would like to go back and replant all my trees like this!
The perpetual garden is a place where guests will be given a punnet of seedlings to plant while they are here . Hopefully this will encourage some food gardening when  they get home.
Jo and Joe won't be given the full 'guest 'treatment though....they have already been roped into helping us finish the landscaping! I hope they don't go home tireder than when they arrived!
So very soon, this gate will open and our lives will change. We will be looking at our farm and its beautiful environment with new eyes as our guests marvel over its beauty. Skills will be aquired(like good bedmaking) and children's laughter will echo through our hall.
16 years ago , a chance comment at the same time lead David and I to this moment ....'You know, I would really like to have a b&b one day'. The idea has changed and evolved, but the feeling remained the same ....sharing the farm with others.
We are here....we are finally here.

Oh this story gives me chills (happy ones) it has always been a dream of mine, but I can now live that vicariously through your blog. so glad that a fellow blogger is your "first". Your perpetual garden sounds like a wonderful idea - will you have little labels on their areas?
