For those of you bitten by the flu bug this season, I offer you the Little Black Cow Famous Hot Lemon Drink.
It is different to other hot lemon drinks because it uses the essential oils found in the skin , which must have extra healing properties considering how quickly sore throats disappear around here after a drink of this. Kids love it too.
Just get two lemons, cut into slices and pour bowling water over them to cover. Add sugar or honey to taste. Then let them steep for at least 2 hrs and you can drink it. When we have coughs and colds around, we keep a jug made up in the fridge ( the longer the lemons sit in the water, the better it is ) and then heat up an individual cup when we need it.
Sometimes the kids just ask for it over Winter as it is a comforting thing to have and it has probably prevented a few colds taking hold too!
Try it , next time you feel a cold coming on, it's magic.

I love to make a drink similar to this with limes. You take a mortar and pestle and pound the sugar into the citrus, and this extracts the oils. I normally add water and ice and then strain it as it seems to get bitter when the peels stay in the juice.
I drink this every morning whether I have a cold or not....its fantastic...!!
Sounds good. We have something similar and I add ginger.
can you imagine life without lemons?... Little Monkey likes to eat them, funny thing to watch!
I have been having a spoonful of manuka honey every morning with my porridge for the last five years (yes I have porridge every morning lol). I have not been sick in any way in this time, dont know if it is just good fortune or the honey.
I also drink lemon drinks regularly and they are a great thirst quencher...All our citrus fruit is out there ripening so I will have some lovely vitamin C shortly to enjoy too! Planted a lemon tree this year and it is coming along nicely, cant wait to get some of my own lemons...
